Alyssa Birnbaum, Ph.D.

As a marketer-turned-organizational psychologist, my goal is to leverage science and research to help you truly listen to your employees and offer ongoing support to highlight your strengths and develop key opportunity areas.

I don’t offer cumbersome, confusing reports that makes it complicated to distill key takeaways. I’m a marketer, after all. I know how to collect a lot of data – from surveys, interviews, observations, etc. – and narrow in on the most critical areas based on your employees’ feedback and your company’s needs and goals. My recommendations are rooted in research, and I will work with you and your team to create an ongoing strategy to support your employees.

I founded Teal Elephant, an employee listening and organizational development consultancy, to support employee wellbeing and create thriving, supportive, and collaborative organizations.

Credentials

I hold a Ph.D. and MA in Positive Organizational Psychology from Claremont Graduate University and a BA in English and Consumer Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania.

Clients

Some of my past and ongoing clients include Accenture, McGill University, Yaamava (previously San Manuel) Casino, Denny’s, Unifai, Teachable, and Workboard. I also work closely with a number of consultants to support their survey design work and data analysis and visualization.

Research

My research heavily focuses on employee engagement, healthy work-life balance, burnout prevention, remote work, high-quality connections, virtual teams, leadership development, and viewpoint diversity.

Vision

Call me naive and idealistic, but I want to make an imprint on people’s lives and help make the world a better place by changing the script on work. Work shouldn’t be a dreaded experience that triggers stress and burnout. I envision a world where work is engaging and energizing, and people thrive in their roles. My goal is to help make that vision a reality.
